Must be able to identify and secure suppliers based on price, quality and need. Also demonstrate a technical knowledge base of commodities. Competent in verbal communication, analysis, reporting, demonstration of products attributes and general business etiquette related to the topic of food products and the food industry. Negotiate contracts on behalf of Good Source. Provide analysis of price proposals, financial reports and other information to determine reasonable pricing (to negotiate the best deal possible – highest quality at the lowest cost.) Attend meetings, trade shows and conferences to learn about new industry trends and make contact with suppliers. Handle more complex purchasing transactions and contract negotiations.
H.S. degree or equivalent with 3 – 5 years of experience sourcing and buying food products to support sales teams.
